PayPal in Nepal: How to Open and Verify for Free

Opening and verifying a PayPal account is not easy for Nepali users. PayPal, the world’s most used online payment processor is yet to make its full features available to a lot of countries including Nepal. There are a lot of tricks online for people who want to have a PayPal account. But for Nepalese users, there is a legit way to open and verify a Nepalese PayPal account which comes with its limitations.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to sign-up and verify a Nepalese PayPal account for free using a Payoneer MasterCard that also can be ordered for free.
Note: You will find different online tutorials and articles that teach you to open a Payoneer account, get it’s US bank account and routing details, and then using those details verify PayPal. That method no longer works. The bank account provided by Payoneer cannot be added in PayPal for its verification.
In two simple summarized steps, here’s what you have to do:
  • Sign up to Payoneer, provide verification, order an international MasterCard and verify it.
  • Sign up to PayPal and verify the card using Payoneer MasterCard.

Requirement

  • Payoneer MasterCard with some balance for verification.

Limitations

A legit Nepalese PayPal account can only be used to send payments. There’s no way of receiving payment in this account. Your payments are funded by the Payoneer card, so you should have some balance in it. You’ll have to make money online in freelancing websites like oDesk and Elance to be able to spend online.

Signing Up and Verifying Details

When it comes to verifying PayPal, we have to use credit cards or bank accounts. It is not possible to add local Nepalese bank accounts to PayPal. Hence, we have to use internationally accepted credit cards. But then again, banks in Nepal don’t issue such cards easily. So, we have to use an alternative which is called Payoneer MasterCard.

Payoneer Card
This credit card is available for free. After you complete the signup process and provide an authentic government issued photo-id document like a passport, your card will be shipped to you.

Opening Your PayPal

We use the normal signup page at PayPal.com to create an account. All we need is a Payoneer card at-hand.

After You Have a Payoneer Credit Card

Signing Up for Paypal
  • Sign up for PayPal using PayPal.com signup page.
  • Ensure that Your country or region is selected as Nepal
  • Choose a Personal account by clicking the Get Started button under it.
  • Fill up the form with your accurate details.
  • For credit card number, use your Payoneer card. All the details are on the card itself.
  • Input the card number.
  • Input the expiration date.
  • Input the CSC or CVC (three-digit) number present at the back of your card.

Verifying

Once you input your Payoneer credit card, PayPal will make two small withdrawals from your Payoneer card. So, you must have a small balance on the card. To see the withdrawal, go to your Payoneer.com Account Activity and click on Transaction History. You might have to wait a few days to see it in your transaction history.
Paypal Transaction Details Appearing on Payoneer
Once it appears, you will see two transactions. Note their amount and input it in Paypal. Once the amount is entered, you will have a verified Nepalese PayPal account. Note that the account is useful only to make purchases. It cannot receive payments. You will only be able to send payments funded by your Payoneer card.

Fees

If you ordered your card directly then you will be charged a fee of 1.8% per transaction by Payoneer.

Final Words

This method of getting a PayPal account is only useful for those who make money online and get payments using Payoneer. This is a way for them to purchase online without revealing their MasterCard number.
You will find different ways to verify a non-Nepalese PayPal account that allows you to send payments. Most of the verification methods are by using VCC or virtual credit cards. While those methods work, you have a big risk of losing your account because it is not legit.
Sadly, the best suggestion right now for Nepalese users is:

Unless you make dollars online, ask for help from friends and family abroad for PayPal and online payments, while knowing that remitting money to them from Nepal is not possible.
